It's at this time of year that thoughts turn to the coming year. One of my plans is to map a GPS route from Land's End to John o' Groats on the National Cycle Network and then ride it (or part of it) in 2007.
The National Cycle Network is an amazing resource and it's great if you know where it goes. However, it is often poorly sign-posted which makes it frustrating to use for the casual user. I want to make GPS files available online so that GPS users can download them.
Work has started (see pictures) but it's got quite complicated!
I will be looking for co-riders so watch this space!

We're mapping the National Cycle Network (amongst a million other things) at OpenStreetMap (www.openstreetmap.org). Fancy joining us?
I've cycled a few hundred miles on the network, mostly with GPS on handlebars, and am slowly mapping it. OSM's a bit difficult to use at the moment but we're working on that. We can't just trace the route from Google Maps though, that's a bit too copyright-encumbered.
